Babcock Lumber Company's roots in Western Pennsylvania date back to 1887 when founder and entrepreneur E.V. Babcock moved from Detroit , Michigan, to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a vision of the future. Demand for lumber grew quickly and the company purchased it first sawmill and tract of timber in Ashtola, Pennsylvania, marking the beginning of a period in Babcock Lumber's history in which the company invested in land and timber stretching from Pennsylvania to Florida.
Today, more than 120 years later, Babcock is producing and distributing from the same western Pennsylvania area, with our corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, less than 100 miles west of where it began in Ashtola.
Products are shipped from Distribution and Manufacturing Centers in Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Illinois, Alabama, and Florida. Deliveries are made using a large fleet of company own trucks, contract trucking and by common carrier. Packaging is tailored to meet customer requirements and may range from small quantities to export containers that are shipped throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.
Babcock Lumber Company is the oldest member of the North American Wholesale Lumber Association (NAWLA) and has been a member of the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) since 1906. The company promotes, manufactures and distributes select high quality hardwood lumber/millwork and building products domestically and internationally. It is our objective to continually evaluate and improve production facilities for continued growth, in order to supply products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
